    trolling motor strength

Hi guys, what are you using to push your 201's around with? My previous 201 had a 101lb maxxum pro and would move the boat through almost anything including the
thickest pencil reeds. my new 201 has a motorguide digital 80lb. Although I don't plow through pencil reeds on a regular basis, I am wondering if this is enough electric?
One advantage is the savings on the third battery, but for $100 extra, I think I'd rather have the extra power.
Anyone using an 80lb with good results?

    thanks

I have a 24v 55 on my 188. It’s not too bad, but am going to a 36v MG because the price is right. I’d say gonfor as much as you can get and not to worry about the weight.

I used to have a Fortrex 80# on my 201D. Always felt the 80# was under powered. Finally upgraded to the 112# Fortrex. Glad I did. Better in even "open" water and especially when fishing in weeds / reeds.

201-Run 36V. When the wind blows your going to need it especially if you fish 6-8 hour days.

82Lb Motorguide tour, haven't felt the need to add the extra weight of a battery in the back. Plenty windy in this area and I am fine with it, boat came with 55 lb motorguide, that was a little light. Will you like a 36 volt system? Probably! Do you NEED 36 volts and 112 lbs of thrust? Only you can answer that, what is fine for one might drive others crazy!

^^^^ ^^^^ This ... I have a 82# Digital Tour on a Champion 210 and it is plenty on an 8hr tournament day even in the wind. And you don't get any windier than here in north central TX.

Same here. 82# Tour. I just got back from a trip to Lake Powell. 1900+miles of shoreline on the lake and my batteries lasted 3 days. I charged them on my way home with my little red Honda generator in the bed and was fully charged by the time I got home. About 6 hours.

Those that changed to 36 volt other than extra battery did you have to charge battery charger to 4 bank. Also post pic of battery configuration and charger please. Thinking of getting ultrex. Thanks
