Questions about Ultrex

Thinking about buying an Ultrex. Have a few questions. What is the link feature? I see there’s 2 choices of transucers. I have a Humminbird 1198 on the bow. Which transducer will I need and will I still need to mount one on motor for side and down imagining?

The Ultrex will not work with the 1198.
Mega DI will work on the newer Solix and Helix models. Link will connect the Ultrex to the same 2 hummingbird units
The US2 sonar which is down imaging only with temperature will work with an adapter pig tail.

The two choices on the Ultrex for transducers is MDI and US2. The MDI is only Mega down imaging and sonar. The sonar will work on the 1198, but the DI will not, so if you think you will be buying a Helix or Solix in the future with MDI, you may want to go ahead and get the MDI transducer in planning ahead. The US2 is strictly sonar and temp, and will also work on the 1198 for sonar only. You will need the appropriate adapter either way.
