    21 XRD prop help

I just picked a 21 XRD with a 12 model 250 pro xs tourqmaster. Currently running a 28 trophy 1 inch below pad 6200 rpm 78mph with 2 guys full of fuel and a few rods. Its real easy to bounce it off of the limiter with this setup. Suggestions would be appreciated.

A trophy is a good driving prop but thats about it. Get with 21xdc on here and see what he recommends. Hes the go to guy on props. If i was betting on a prop out of the box id go with a bravo on a 21

xpress x19, 200ho G2, aluminum sawtooth cut prop, paper sack tackle storage, ugly stik pro team, color c-lector

That speed and set up is about right. Could drop it another 1/4” might get another 100rpm thus another mph. But going by the info you have a 1.75:1 t/m the trophy is a ok prop. But I sure like a bravo or marks razor and even a turbo. Out of the three I like the bravo more with 15 1/4” wheel set at 3/4” under should see low 80’s depending on load. The three props I mentioned are pretty stiff and marks props are almost pitch perfect run great, best warranty and I own one but it lacks about 3mph over the bravo on my setup.

My trophy was a great top end prop but everything else was a little lacking. I now run a pro max and it is pretty darn tough on everything except a little off on top end. The mid range and handling on the pro max compared to my trophy was night and day difference. The pro max so far is 2 mph slower on top but I haven’t had a chance to tweak the pro max yet.
I’m no expert on setting one up but I have been told 3/4” to 1/2” should be where you need to be for best top end. I wouldn’t go any higher. The big issue with the trophy is they like to sling blades. I think more times when you start to run them higher.

Smartcraft or analog tach? Several 21/250 around running 27 trophies and not hitting limiter.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm hoping to see this one run in the low 80s with a light load.

Leebob-RPM from analog tach but hit the limiter on the last run @ 78.7. I don't know the history of the prop but judging from the scratches on hull and lower unit it may have been repaired and not a true 28. Water temp was 50 and air at 40 so it probably won't hit it this summer.

Get rid of the trophy and get a 28 hydromotive quad4 xob or a 28 pro max and set prop shaft at 1/2" to 3/4" below the pad. I had same year set up and just sold motor. I always ran between 82-83 year round loaded with 2 people.

Nice looking rig. Realistic speed is 82-84 solo and 79-81 with 2 men tourney loaded. Lots of factors too, air temp, power poles, 36v Ultrex, etc. A 28BravoXS is hard to beat on that boat.

You may be onto something about the prop.

28 Bravo1XS, 28 Promax, 27 TXP-OT4 are my 3 favorite fishing props with a load. Vent 3800-4000 rpms on holeshot.
