Could be caffeine, could be acid. Either way, do NOT take the crap Rx they’ll try to peddle. Make sure it’s nothing else and simply change your intake. If it’s no more coffee, so be it. Odds are good it’s the acid. Decaf might do the trick. If not, you can try hot tea as a substitute.

Try cold brew coffee. Regular brewed coffee tears me up, but cold brew isn’t as acidic.

Coffee is acidic, and can cause acid reflux. It gives me problems at times. I've learned to start my day off with a famotidine (generic form of Pepcid) tablet before my first cup. Works every time.
The endoscopy will tell you a lot about the cause. Could be simple acid reflux, or a hiatal hernia. Both are treatable with simple meds.

You most likely have acid reflux/GERD. Probably need to clean up your diet and coffee will be on the list of drinks to avoid. I went to the ENT with similar symptoms. That was fun, stuck a camera up my nose and down my throat and we watched together on a screen. ‘This is going to tickle a bit’ - you think?!

Make sure you get the correct end and clarify where that scope is going.

Yes, make sure it was not just use for a colonoscopy before you. That would be crappy.

I had some persistent heartburn. Antacids wouldn't cure it but a new valve and triple bypass did the trick.

I suppose it affects different people different ways. I drink a lot of coffee, no chest pains, doesn’t make me lose sleep.

Yes it does me too a lot of times. You may try to start drinking decaf and see if it’s the caffeine that’s doing it.

Had those symptoms. Check gall bladder. Had mine removed and able to drink coffee again.
