Heck, my wife bought a 5,000+ square foot foreclosed house without me--and I hadn't put the last house on the market.
You should have seen what it took to come up with the money.

I've bought a few trucks and boats without her knowing.
True that! I took the wife to look at a motorcycle I found that met what she was looking for. I had done my research and was ready to negotiate as it was overpriced some. She test rode it, pulled up, pulled off her helmet and said, “Buy it. This is the one.” The salesman was happy. Me? Not so much. Should have talked to her beforehand I guess.
I have never bought without her knowing but with small child I have picked out the past several cars for her. I know her well enough for to know what she wants and I think she could pick out what I would want too. The unexpected part was this makes the dealer really work to get a good deal to get her to come in.
Maybe go workout the deal to where it is ready to sign then go get her and make sure she likes it if you are unsure.
I bought my wife a suv last year, worked out fine, she loves her new ride.
I knew somebody that bought a car for his wife, parked it in the back of the house for Christmas morning and when the time came he just opened the curtains. Merry Christmas!
Just be sure it's the vehicle in the color, style, and with the options "she wants", and not what "you think" she wants.

I did it once and she absolutely loved it. We are divorced now
You could always rent one for a short road trip, just to see what reaction you get. Might make a vacation out of it going from 1 city to another and a different car every day.
Noooowayyyyyyyyyyyyy
Mine does her own shopping and makes the deals.
Happy wife-Happy life. Let her get what SHE wants and just YOU just pay for it.
This. I told my wife max we could spend for a new vehicle for here after we got married and her car crapped out. We had a lot of fun going to all the different dealerships and test driving and figuring out what she wanted. Her excitement was something I wouldn’t take away in the shopping process. Once we were done shopping then you go to work on the buying part.
No way....I would not do it unless you know EXACTLY what she wants!

If she has expressed an interest in a certain car, I'd probably do it, aka, I really like Linda's car in a blue. Otherwise, no.

I ordered my wife a car on Valentines Day 2 years ago. She likes it and needed a new car.
I did and it worked out. Just went to a dealer and picked out the car I thought she'd like and test drove it home and had it parked in the driveway before she got home from work. She pulled in the drive, loved it then drove it and I then went back to dealer and finished the deal. Sad part is a year later a 100' high cast iron flag pole broke at the base and fell across her and 2 other cars crushing it.
