    Zman Chatterbait Patent - Strike King Thunder Chicken

    Did Zmans patent on the direct connection between blade and jighead expire? Utility patent is 20 years so I must be missing something. Strike Kings new vibrating jig appears to have the direct connection which is a really big deal if this is true. Every company that has tried to find a way around the direct connection patent has come up short.

    If the patent hasn't expired, it's possible SK could have reached a licencing agreement with Zman.

    True. Could be paying royalties. Would be surprising given how firm Zman has been but money talks.

    Strike king has other baits licensed thru zman, so probably just a licensing deal.

    Yep they are using ElaZtech also, so appears the have come to some sort of royalty agreement with Z-Man.


    Or, they think they are big enough and have enough lawyers and don't care what Zman says

    Good deal. An SK offering will keep the prices reasonable (we hope).
    However, I hope the eye on this SK chatterbait is welded, or at the least, stronger than the one on the SK Swingin’ Sugar. I lost so many good fish on the SS buzzbait to bad eyes that opened up I finallly just stopped using them.
