Don't know if there is a specfied distance but pretty sure it's more than the length of most boats if unobstructed. Should test the location before permanently mounting it.

So I can mount my sensor within 20 feet of the motor.? I was thinking on the console behind the windshield, which is about 10 feet or a little less. Would that be okay.? It would be right behind a HDS 10.

Ok on the distance but may have other issues with electrical interference or maybe ability to pair with TM. Test for interference before installing.

Mine is mounted as far back on the boat as I could get it in a 519 Ranger. Never had any problem.

Is it possible to extend the wires on the sensor.? According to the manual it states to make sure the wires are long enough to reach power before mounting. Thanks
