Does the 1996 Stratos 201XL have any wood?

Looking at this boat and curious if it has any wood in it or if it’s all composite? Floor, transom, etc.

JR19 may chime in on this one.He is very knowledgeable about the older stratos/javelin boats.I tend to agree with the other guys.I am thinking around 98 or 99 is when stratos went all fiberglass. Its no big deal anyway if and this is a big if the boat has been covered for most of its life.Do a history check on the boat.Check flooring, stringers and transom.Good luck to you

Nothing wrong with wood if it's taking care of.

i have a 1997 219F wood in there and perfectly dry , transom and floors on mine easy to inspect since fiberglass only on top so look in bilge and front compartment to see it but not shure your model

It is going to be wood. If you have a boro scope or inspection camera remove a floor drain and inspect underside of floor and see what the condition is of the wood. It I typical to see surface mold from moisture from bilge and hull of boat.

I might be wrong but if my memory is correct a few boats in the tail end of the 1997 production year were composite. I am thinking it was not all models either. Only the 201,200 and 295 had a few 100% composite boats at the tail end of 1997. The 273,285 and other models others had wood for all of 1997. By 1998 all of stratos went composite. It was 1999 when Javelin went all composite...in that time frame Startos and Javelin were under the same ownership and made in the same building.

My ‘96 201 had a wood front deck. Saw it when I cut it for TM pedal tray. Not sure about transom.

My 98 273 has a wood front deck. Still says "Hand laid hull" on the side - I think that swapped to the "composite" logo in 99 models.

I still don't think "composite" exactly means "no wood" - especially on these older boats. Could mean there are plys of other material sandwiched in, as well as wood plys.

I am about to drill my transom for a transducer cable - I'll report back.
