What to clean jig mold with?

I may have jacked up one of my molds and I need to clean all the soot off of it. What should I use? I was thinking simple green. School me please.

Update...After wiping most of the soot off of the mold I tried a corner of it with simple green and it worked great. For the record I’m trying to get the mold ready to apply RTV silicone.

Use acetone before you use JB Weld or RTV silicone.
