    2018 RT188 Stereo Install

I just installed a Boss gauge type stereo with Infinity speakers. I took out the speedo and put the stereo in its place. This stereo really sounds good for the price. Also, I was surprised to find that my Bluetooth music and Vessel View Mobile both work at the same time on my iPhone.

Looks good! Is there any type of antenna required?

Yes, an antenna is required for the radio. I installed a small $15 antenna on the left front of the console. It’s at about a 45 degree angle so it kind of blends in with the console. You can see it in the pics... The radio picks up stations good, but have not tried it on the lakes yet. I will use the Bluetooth for music so it’s no big deal.

I just installed this same head unit and a pair of 6.5" Polk speakers in my boat. I installed my speakers in the seat box. For being a "lower cost" option it's nice...plenty of sound. I also added an antenna but generally listen to music on my phone...you can see my antenna behind the Garmin unit. The Bluetooth function works great.

Thanks guys, those look great. I do see the antenna now. I’m wanting to tear my dash out and get rid of the speedo, redo the wiring and rocker switches, get the dash dipped, etc.

Seeing clean installs like these makes me want to do it even more!

The little Boss unit will run a set of speakers without any help from a amplifier?

Yes, it really sounds good with the Infinity speakers that I installed. The Boss stereo has a 4 out of 5 star rating on amazon with about 500 reviews. It’s perfect for my needs...

The model number of the stereo is MGR350B.

The speakers I used were Polk Audio DB652.

The OP used Infinity speakers with his setup. I have these same speakers in my ski boat...they are good too. I chose the Polk Audio's for this application because they have a much shallower mounting depth.

I used the infinity 622MW 6.5” speakers. They are about $75 a pair on Amazon. It want hurt too much if someone accidentally sticks a rod butt in one. There is not much of a grill for protection...
