    Neutral safety switch

Have any of you had to adjust your shifter so it comes in contact with the neutral safety switch. In order to start my boat, I have to push in the shifter for it to make contact and start. Not sure if it need adjusted or just a replacement switch. This is on a xb-21 BasSport.

I had to adjust the one on my old Allison. I've not adjusted this one, but sometimes I have to wiggle the shifter.

I have to do the same thing. My shifter doesn't fall into the slot sometimes.

You can adjust the switch out if needed.

It's not recommended but the switch can be disconnected and by passed.

    Old drag racers trick..

Just don't do it if you use the boat for family outings or water sports.

Like tim stated. I've removed the outer plates to remove the shifter and readjust the safety button and then increase a bit of tension on the shifter spring so it works as it should. It's easy

Yep I had to adjust the one on my last boat. My current boat is really touchy about the shifter being in just the right place so it tells me it will need adjustment soon.

I pulled the shifter assembly out this weekend. The adjustment was easy, but my switch had broken off at the threaded collar. Guess I’ll give Bill at Allison a call in the morning for a replacement. If I didn’t tournament fish I just bypass the switch.
