How to Replace Minn Kota Fortrex Rear Pivot Brackets and Bushings

Hi guys,

I ordered parts from Jones Trolling Motor and they were simply awesome for info/pricing/shipping. I went ahead and recorded a YouTube video of the process [accidentally deployed the gas spring, but oh well] and got it all put back together. It's not hard, but hopefully this video helps the next person who wants to tackle this as a DIY project. At that step where replacing the pivot brackets, start and finish one side before jumping to the second bracket to keep it all together :)

Everything went smoothly until the 4th Torx bolt. If the bolts seem like they were installed with red loctite, they were. And LOTS of it. Get some chlorinated brake cleaner, heat, pb blaster, etc. Take your time and you'll be glad you did. Or, just buy the metal brackets and drill them out.
