I can't help with the porpoising. But that is way to much prop.

The 4 stroke weighs a lot more and you probably need some more RPM's to achieve what you used to with the 2-stroke. Maybe move some weight around in your boat. Weight forward.

I also have a 2008 TR196 and spend a lot of time at lower speeds due to really old fishing buddies. My low speed porposing is worse as the load increases (2-3 people and a full livewell occasionally). I minimized it by dropping the motor down to 3" below the pad and changing from the Tempest to either a 23" Rev 4 or a 24" Bravo 1 with the full flare. Both have good hole shots and low speed performance. A Chris Bailey foil was recommended to me but I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet.

I didn't mention a foil because some people don't like the looks. But it will sure do the job, I have one, for a similar reason as you. Some people make fun of it, but I just tell them to --------- well, never mind. There might be kids reading this.

I have the same boat (opti 200, 26p tempest plus, gen1 talons and 8” BMS jackplate). Adding my talons killed my holeshot and caused significantmid-range porpoising issues. I moved all the weight from rear compartments forward then tested 6 different propellers...to no avail....then solved the issue completely by adding a Chris Bailyfoil (keeping original prop).

I wasn’t sure about the foil so I tested a ‘no-drill’ foil first.

Chris Bailey (CB Marine) makes custom foils that work great and I think look awesome.....I believe he is also a member on here

I think we found problem dealer put motor on with 25” shaft mercury and dealer both agreed 2B596234 ser. Was suppose to have 20” shaft sent from factory. Hope they take care of it soon.

Get it replaced then find a different dealer.
