Unhappy My Fast Strike is dead.

    Well...

About 5 minutes after blast off this morning it happened. Started losing power and then the rattle of a dead cylinder/bearing. Fished my way back to the ramp, 6 hours. Not a single bite! Just a little more salt for the open wound. Got it home and pulled the plugs. #4 was dry and powdery white.

I think I might just repower and part out my J150GLEIS.

I don't know that I can really complain. She was 28 years old, and for the last two and half years I've ran her like a stolen sports car. 30 minute wide open runs were the norm. She was kind enough to fail on a calm day in the river. There were a few "rough water" situations that might have killed me if she'd failed then. If she were a soldier, she'd be buried with full honors.

That would be my guess. Would have had to be a carburetor issue, since I pre-mix. Didn't sneeze at idle though.

If the motor didn't seize up, a good rebuild should last another 28 years.

Check the high speed orifice in that carb and see if it backed out. That would do it.

    But a new G2 150HO would be much more fun.....and a 10 year warranty.

I checked (and tightened) all of those about 3 months ago, but it's possible.

Yep! The only reason I'm hanging on to my special tools is in case I need to rebuild mine. With the stupid things I've been doing lately, I don't know if I trust me to do my rebuild.

I've got spares for the 1991 bastard child if you need anything Jerry. A set of carbs and throttle bodies, timing wheel, starter, a few carb bowls and rebuild kits.

The G2's I've had the pleasure to ride in were torque MONSTERS compared to the DFI's and G1's.....much less the carb engines....

And that is what BRP want's. Customer to convert to newer Technology so they can kill the old parts inventory off. That has to cost them Millions.

Apparently there is NO money in repowers. I requested quotes from 7 different dealers yesterday. I received only one today. $20k for a 175 VmaxSHO installed with all controls/rigging.
