    Why the Gospel matters:

    Two Teachings

    1. There are only two main teachings in the Bible: Law and Gospel. We need to proclaim both.

    2. The purpose of the Law (Ten Commandments) is to show us our sin (S.O.S.) and point us to the remedy: the Gospel--shows our Savior (S.O.S.)

By the Law God teaches us what to do and what not to do. Rom 6:23 "The wages of sin is death." We're in a really tough spot and need to be rescued.

The Gospel--The Holy Spirit works thru this message: Christ died for the sins of the world.

    1. Only the Gospel can build the Church.

    2. Only the Gospel can change man's heart.

    3. Only the Gospel can save (the Law cannot, its function is to steer us to the Gospel).

    4. God commands/invites us to proclaim the Gospel. Matt 28:20 is The Great Commission

    "
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:17

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." Romans 1:16

Beware of those that never proclaim the Gospel (or the Law for that matter).
