    1980 VS 2080 AVX

I'm looking into ordering a 1980 or 2080 Vexus (Both with Evinrude G2). With everything being equal ordering a 2080 is about $7,000 more. I am leaning towards an 1980 because it is cheaper and I feel like the $7,000 is simply paying for a tandem axle trailer, an extra 8-10 mph and 4" bigger back deck. We fish Lake of the Ozarks 90% of the time. I apologize if a thread like this has been posted already. Looking for some outsider input. Thanks in advance!

There also might be a difference in the steering of the 150 G2 & 200 G2, but I can’t confirm. The 1980s w/G2 150hp have SeaStar hydraulic steering added on where as the photos of the G2 200hp models I have seen have the built-in power steering (eliminating need for Sea-Star) and automatic trimming of the motor. If that is the case and you have room for the 2080 in your garage and budget, that would push me toward the 2080. The review of Evinrude’s power steering and automatic trim have been pretty good. The G2 200 cost extra because of these features as well and may weigh more than a G2 200 without those features. Worth checking out to see if this is the case.
