Just curious though are gators common in texas or is it a rare fluke?

Sad they gonna end up killing it cause people are so worried bout an animal that won’t bother anyone unless it’s messed with.

A little scary that he is not scared of humans and let’s you get that close. Most gators would never let you get that close.

Fished a tx at Toho in the early 80's and had one about 13ft cruise by the boat.

I know of 3 in Lake Fork. I would say it is not uncommon to see one

    15-18'..........

Lots of gators in the Angelina river (below the dam at rayburn) and 20 miles down river from the dam where the angelina joins the neches river there is a butt load of 'em.

This. I would think a gator that lets you get that close could be a potential problem as it seems to have little fear of humans.

I think that’s Deans C pet. Don’t mind him. He’s just guarding the hole

Current world record came from the Alabama River near Camdem, Alabama.

Over 15' long and over 1000#.

    I just looked this up:

15 ft. 9 inchs weight 1011.5 pounds caught by Mandy Stokes on August 16, 2014 and certified by Safari Club International.

Wilkipedia list one in excess of 19' from Louisiana but does not offer documentation.

I’ve seen them in several Texas lakes, seen the most in Choke Canyon.

We even have them in the city lakes here. See them a lot on Fork in some areas. Common to see them in smaller city lakes here too.

yep gators ,Boa's, wolves ,and grizzly's are a absolute need in our country for no apparent reason. We need them about as much as we need Liberals.

Been going to Rayburn for years and have never seen one. We fish mainly around the 5 Fingers area around to just north of Powell Point... Guess we gotta venture above the 147 bridge... Or maybe we'll stay just where we are... Dan

Watching the FL tournaments I was wondering if you FL boys arent a little sketched out when reaching in the water for a fish flopping around. Seems like that would be a dinner bell to a gator. Gator comes up to grab the fish and guess what else gets eaten.

Maybe im just a chicken KY boy but it crossed my mind watching the coverage. Nothing in our waters can eat me unless I die first lol

See them for sure at Caddo. I have had one swim out to the boat and run me out of an area. When I would try to move back in it would it start heading back towards the boat. I think it may have had little ones it was guarding.

Fairly common in the brushier lakes. TPWD confirmed the size of the gator being around 18’, last article I read said “they were NOT going to kill it”. Supposedly the high water pushed it from its home.
