    '05 Ranger 165VS - '10 Mercury Optimax 90

Please forgive me if this topic has already been discussed.

I bought my first boat last summer, a 2005 Ranger 165VS with a 2010 Mercury Optimax 90. I've been running a Solas 13x19 4-blade SS prop, and although the boat handles well and seems to have decent speed at 5200 rpms, the holeshot seems a bit sluggish. I know this isn't a huge motor and isn't expected to jump out of the water, but it still seems slow on start.

Now, the main reason I'm bringing this up...my Dad grounded the motor yesterday and chewed up my prop pretty bad. Before I purchase a replacement or send for repair, I thought I'd see what some experts thought about this setup and any changes I should consider.

    Thank you all in advance!

20" Laser II would be my choice. Raise the motor 1 hole to get the rpm up a little.
