If you know the lake you are fishing they can be helpful to maybe find some new spots but probably not where they are most valuable ....if you have never fished a lake they will identify areas of the lake that should hold fish...based on the time of year ,and conditions....or you can set them to look for slopes or drop offs...etc...I have one and use it frequently especially rely on it when on a new lake...for the lakes I fish all the time hardly use it...there I rely on way points already set.
That sounds like good stuff! I hope lowrance/ Navionics comes out with something similar.
