My Lund's tow weight loaded is about 3500lbs or so. While never having issues towing it with a 2008 Tundra 5.7 and 6 speed trans, it took a long time for the shifting to settle in and it seemed it would run excessive rpms longer than I though normal, before settling into gear, with the boat in tow. I put 200k on the truck, and those miles were far from trouble free. I'm in a SuperDuty gasser now and the towing difference is night and day. It could be due to the Ford being a lot more of a truck. It could also be due to technological advancements over the last 10 years. The rpms settle in right away on shift changes and the electronic locking rear differential far superior to a standard posi rearend. I don't know how the current Tundras compare to my 2008. The Tundra is due for an upgrade/overhaul in the near future. I got a sick deal on the SuperDuty, otherwise I probably would have bought another Toyota.
