I do not believe so... traditionally theirs are designed as engine COVERS.

That was my thinking too. The Merc cover was a trailering/storage cover.

You can leave it on all the time. Vents for the air intakes.

I had one on my 175 ProXS Optimax for years and it worked great. Cowling looked like new when I went to sell the motor.

I'm going to order one for the new four stroke too.

Keeps cowling from getting beat up from fishing partners who don't appreciate how much you like a smooth, shiny, mar free cowling.

One item to consider: Heat soak. Just keep a very close eye for any type of performance problems that might develop, and rule out the cover as a possible cause.

Not saying it "will" be a problem. Just saying that under the right circumstances/conditions, it "could" be a problem.

Great covers and cheap. Bought the half storage cover with no vents and it fits great.
They make a half on the run cover with vent also.

Phil have you towed with that cover yet? I never tow with my Ranger cover on the boat but do want the engine cowling covered for long trips.

What does the liner inside look like?

I bought the Mercury one from the dock store. It's made from very heavy duty material and felt lined. A little tough to put on hanging out over the water, but not too bad.

No i won't tow with it. This cover is too loose for that and there is no liner just fabric. If you want to tow get the half cover with vents they offer. That's meant to run while on the motor tight fit.

I bought the RMP cover with vents and tow with it on.

My dealer suggested that I not run the engine fast with it on. Says the intake air is restricted. Would like a second opinion from Don.

I'm not real crazy about the "vented covers"... and did note that although the bloke in the above video "had" a breathable cover that he claimed was from Mercury (and made in Australia), there does not appear to be one available on the Mercury Dockstore (at this time). If you've found them elsewhere... please do share.

Never could find one for a Racing motor.
Got a gentelman off face book that makes them with softside material.. Getting a red one to match the boat with Mer Racing..
