adding setback to run less trim?

anyone try higher p2p and more setback to run less trim. right now 6 inch plate 22 inch setback trimmed flat .. 3.75 p2p

hanging new pro xs soon and will do ecm mod for 300 hp..
but hull doesnt run well near 70 due to amount of trim needed to get close. hoping to run a bit flatter but faster with extra ponies

How is it possible to have 22” set back? You say you have a 6” jack plate.

I believe that measurement is from end of pad.

Law of diminishing returns. As the boat moves through the water it creates a swell behind it. That swell has an apex. You always want to be just ahead or right at that apex, never ever behind it.

Lots of Rangers have 15” set back built in so a 6” plate will get you close.

ya I measure from edge of pad.. give a better idea of total setback as hulls built in setbacks vary. and not with motor tucked in . so that adds distance from pad too being trimmed flat.

hull is setback is 11.5 plus 6 in plate plus wedges then a few inches for being off neg trim

More setback = less trim, as long as the transom can handle it. Ideal setback gives excellent trim/bow lift response and best speeds with the motor trimmed near vertical, not trimmed way out.

i have no concerns with transom handles a 6 inch manual plate and wedges no problem. boat is just a trim slut.

I may try an 8 manual plate with no wedges. also my repower with new proxs is lighter than my vintage optimax.
