Your unit has CHIRP 2D sonar and CHIRP Imaging. The default settings do OK. "If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it."
Using CHIRP is no different than single frequency sonar, just provides sharper images.
You have the choice of using CHIRP or not. Try both and see which works the best for you.

You may want to run 2d High chirp especially if in shallow water, or you may get depth readings jumping.
Also put surface clutter on 7.
