Just play an extra quarter...15 minutes

to much on the line for "the luck of the coin flip"

Agree. Leave it as is. They both had 60 minutes of game time to have a different outcome.

The old overtime rule was really horrible. This one is better, but still horrible. Both teams deserve one chance. After that it’s fair game.

Also no professional game should end in a tie.

I agree, each team gets the ball once.

Probably a very good way to handle overtime unless Brady wins the toss!

The college rule seems more fair to me. Nfl rule stinks

That being said the more OT games I watch the more I think each offense and each defense should get on the field at least once in the NFL.
I’d like to see NFL OT rules mirror college football OT rules. The CFL uses similar rules. NFL OT rules are long pasted due for a change.

Rule was changed after the saints kicked the winning field goal in OT to beat the viks in the nfc championship game.

I personally like it. Makes each possession that much more important.

I saw Red jerseys on the field in OT so they definitely got to play. They just couldn't hold the Pats offense down. I don't think they need to change the rules any more than they are.

Timed extra 15 minute quarter... Tied after that another timed 15 minute quarter... Rinse and repeat until there is a winner... Dan

Do what the Rams did, lose the coin toss, create a turnover and drain a kick.

Agree. Keep playing regular quarters until there is a winner.

In baseball, would extra innings ever be decided if both teams didn’t bat?

    No. Dumb.

NBA plays until there is a difference in score at the end of the period.

The NHL shootouts allow equal numbers of chances to each team.

    Be dumb if they didn’t.

Don’t really know the soccer rules but I bet there isn’t a system whereby the “offense” doesn’t get to take part.

The NFL rule used to be beyond dumb. Now it’s just dumb.

Keep having alternate possessions until there is a difference in score. Kickoffs have become a joke altogether but leave them in.

You can bet all the Pats fans would be singing a different tune if KC won toss and ran right down field and scored. All you would be hearing is how unfair OT is. Definitely needs to be changed because whoever won the toss was going to win in that one.

I don't care who's playing... I've always thought OT should be a full quarter.
