    VPN services

Who uses a VPN service (virtual private network) ?

Which one do you use and why ?

Considering this route, but there are 3 or 4 that seem to be consistently at the top of the ratings on google......and the only person I know who uses one doesn't use any of those.....

I use express vpn. No complaints. I don't have anything to compare it to though.

My friend recommended & uses PIA, but they don't show up in the top 5 of any of the surveys I read.....

Open & Express do.................express seems to be the top 1st or 2nd most of the time as well

I use IPVanish but when my subscription runs out I will be changing. They cant be trusted. They said they don't keep logs on their users but have been proven in court that they are a bunch of liars after giving the Feds all the info they needed on one of their clients that proves they do keep logs. Fool me once shame on you. They will not get a second chance from me. Don't use a VPN that is located in the US. They all give up the info when the Feds put pressure on them. Do your research before you commit to any VPN or just use the Onion router (TOR network) if you don't like to be tracked by every corporation, hacker or the GOV.

One thing to note is that TOR was actually developed by the government...

NordVPN and ExpressVPN are ranked the top in many categories and studies. We don't use one, but will be getting on when we move into the new home. We're going to be working remotely more and need the security.

I just subscribed to NordVPN after reading some reviews. It as always one of the top rated ones. Can't remember how I got the idea in my head to get a VPN. It was easy and I guess I have much more security via the internet now.

They shouldn't charge you anything. They are tunneling your connection through them, tracking your connections, and selling the data to a third party. They are hiding your IP address behind their's, big deal.

The reviews I saw, express was almost always 1 or 2, and nord was usually in the top 5, but not nearly as high as I had expected.

I'd say out of 10 reviews, express, nord, & cyberghost seem to be consistently in the top 5, (express being usually above the other 2) with some others squished in from time to time.

So, just looking to see what you use & why...............I kinda trust that more than the google reviews alone.....

I have been using PIA for several years. They do not have or keep logs. I checked extensively. They are not based in the US.
I use a VPN because I like to have privacy from trackers. I don't know about other VPN services but PIA has many, many locations all over the world that I can access the internet from.
I don't always use it because it can slow down my internet speed at times.

I use ExpressVPN and its okay, it WILL slow your connection down unless you're hardwired in. Do not install their firmware on your router, install the VPN software on your device. I installed ExpressVPN's firmware on my router and i went from getting 80-90mbps to 2-15mbps, I guess routers don't have enough processing power to run it on them. When my VPN is running I will get 30-40 mbps on wireless.
