How to separate Old School living rubber?

I purchased a bunch of Old School living rubber. It may be "old school" but it's not the living rubber I remember. I'm finding it very difficult to separate. I've used very sharp scissors and an xacto blade but it's still very difficult to separate. I will greatly appreciate any assistance. I bought 2 lbs. & am starting to regret it. Thanks!

i usually tie what i want to the bait, and separate it into small tabs like 1/4 wide and stretch it and cut it right by my fingers, even the really old stuff i have still will work it just needs to be stretched a bit more

I've used small tweezers to separate the stuff that's stubborn.

Are you referring to flat rubber or round?

Both should be stretched tight and cut with scissors.

I always use super sharp scissors and cut it slow while I'm stretching it.

The dull scissors give you more control cutting each strand separately then sharp scissors. You’ll end up with more stuck together with sharp scissors unless you cut extra slow.

Been tying living rubber skirts for a while and always liked the sharp scissors better. Just my preference.

I'll have to try the dull scissor method on the flat rubber , i have no issues with round.
