    HP rating question

I had my first opportunity to see four of the Vexus offerings at the Richmond Fishing Expo. I was very impressed.

Question - why is the AVX1980 limited to 150 and the AVX2080 limited to 200 hp? Given their size it seems they should be able to handle a 200 motor on the AVX1980 and a 225 or even a 250 on the AVX2080. What is the limiting factor keeping them from raising the hp limits? Thanks.

Probably the biggest complaint about the Vexus line is the low HP ratings.

Those people are just noise. If they are really going to buy then they would. Plus a few extra ponies isn't going to put more fish in the boat.

I wondered myself and "weight" of the boat leaps out at me as the primary reason.

Which leads me to my question. Does anyone have weight specs on the different models?

Mostly interested in the AVX 1980 and 2080.

    Thanks in advance

The 2080 with the 200 ETEC is a 65-70mph boat depending on load. That engine puts it in the same speed arena with the z520 and z521 with 250's (the 520 will be a few mph quicker). I would not want to have anything more than a 200 on my boat, a 250 would make it VERY interesting....

I didn't see many things to complain about when crawling over them at the show. The HP rating is my biggest question and I couldn't find an answer before posting. I am also interested in hearing how the owners like the livewell after they've had them for a while. One of the videos I watched indicated the livewell is 22 gallons.

I don't want to go off topic here but when you all talk about the HP rating being too low, where is this showing up? Where is the proof? Hole shot on the boats are amazing, top speed is there, handling, etc. As mentioned before Ranger, boats rarely saw 70 until the Z520 and that takes a 250 to get you there. Get in a 2080 with a 200 and you are getting 68ish and cost less than the others!

The big thing for me is the 2080 only has a 32 gallon fuel tank. Even with a 200 that limits my runs. Bigger gas tank and a 250 will give me the range and speed I need.

Where are you guys going that you need to go faster than 55mph? I usually cruise at 40 with the bow trim down.

Cause some guys like to drop the hammer to go a quarter mile. I would rather cruise mid range and enjoy my ride.

Some prefer to spend less time getting from point A to point B in order to maximize limited fishing time. It has nothing to do with measuring any body parts. For me it is about efficiency on the water and the max hp rating is one of the factors I consider when comparing boats. My question is a legitimate one and I am hoping someone in the know actually replies. I am not sure how my question has offended or upset anyone causing this thread to go south.

I’m not offended at all. I just wanted to know about the mindset. Your wanting to go fast Is just interesting to me - I’d want more windscreen on my boat for over for sure though!

This boat is designed for a niche that I don't understand what is, really. It is an aluminum painted boat that looks awesome I will agree.. But will have limited buyer interest. I don't really see what the benefits are over a comparably priced fiberglass model. Speed, storage, and fishability included.

The 2080 I looked at was priced at $48.5K with a 200hp motor. My Nitro Z20 with a 250 4S, will come in under that with good options.
I'm not trying to push Nitro with that statement, just trying to point out the downside of Vexus of what many potential buyers are seeing.

Until you ride in one of them, you wont understand. I traded a 2017 19' ranger glass boat for a 2080. Everybody says thats expensive for an aluminum rig and if it were any other aluminum rig, i would agree. What they have done with these boats is unbelievable. If you compare the price to a z520 with similar options its saves you 20-30k to purchase the Vexus. There will be some glass boats that are cheaper but cheaper isnt always better.

Cheaper usually mean good enough - but that is not good enough for me. I wanted a higher end aluminum boat. I got that with the Vexus. Can’t wait for the glass boats!

    SMciver,
My serious question to you is, why did you want a higher end aluminum boat? What are your benefits from it within your interests? What is the benefit over the traditional fiberglass?
