    Leaking brake fluid

I bought a new master cylinder from Ranger a while back. The only difference in this one and the old one is the way the cap fits in the hole on the tongue. Didn't fit quite right but made it work. Now it is leaking around the cap. It seems to be seating down on the master cylinder ok. Seems like it leaks worse when it is just sitting in the garage and even more when the weather is cold.

Any ideas why or how to stop it? Strange for sure.

If it is leaking at the cap then there is too much fluid in the master cylinder. There is a mark on the cap that is a max fill line remove fluid to that line.

Make sure that you pull the tongue all the way out to relieve any pressure in the system.

It did not come with an o ring. I did try installing one and it didn't help.

I did suction some of the fluid out but it still is leaking. Boat hasnt moved since mid November but it is still leaking on the garage floor.

Brake fluid is pretty corrosive so you don't want it getting on paint.

Brake systems are not sealed. There should be a vent on the top of the cap. The base of the cap should be sealed though. If it is not fluid expansion may be your leak.
