    VE175GLETR over charging

Noticed my motor was charging at 17. Something volts at wot this afternoon. I replaced the VR and stator last spring with aftermarket parts. Which one should be the problem?

You reading it with the dash voltage gauge or a real volt meter?

Quick ?. If I dont get the vr changed out by the time my first tournament rolls around. Would I risk any further damage to the charging system by disconnecting the vr for that one day and bypassing it?

Changed my vr today. Have intermittent tach it charges when it wants to and sometimes goes to 16 volts at 5000 rpm. Educated guess is leaning towards the aftermarket stator I put on it last spring?

The stator I purchased last spring was a Chinese version by jet unit that ive never heard of if that helps

You get what you pay for. Sorry, that's why we use OEM parts.

I replaced stator today. I had replaced the VR last week. Started motor on muffs after stator install today result was no tach and no voltage increase. Installed my old VR and my tach returned for a moment but no voltage increase then no tach. Is it likely that installing the new VR with a bad stator immediately fried my new VR?

What gives? I have replaced the stator and 3 VR this month. Took the boat to the lake yesterday with new stator and new VR everything was working fine then halfway down the lake my tach drops to 0 and no charging. What is going on? I don't have wing nuts I dont have corrosion and my batteries are new. I dont understand it and this is getting expensive

Are you replacing with BRP parts? Are your battery cables, to motor, in good shape, no missing insulation or any corrosion?

Have you talked with CDI about this? All motor battery connections tight?
