Does anyone know what weight carpet they put in 99 TR 20 from factory. Changing carpet in a buddies boat and dont want to get too think carpet where lids are hard to open/close.

I believe they came with 20oz but I would use 24oz if you are going to do all that work. I just did mine last winter and used 24oz. You won't regret it! I got my carpet from bassboatseats.com they also sell carpet. If you guys are good with your hands you should be able to do it no problem. The clean up is the hardest part and the cleaner you get it the better the final result. Good luck.

Did you have any problems with the compartment lids being too tight using the heavier carpet?

The lids fit a little tighter but not too tight. If you do a good job rolling and tucking the edges it is pretty much a non issue.

I just finished carpeting my TR22 and I used 20oz with padding and the lids are pretty tight. I thought about using 24oz but glad I decided on the 20
