Round reel fan here. Calcutta 100DC's, Conquests BFS and D series in my tackle arsenal. Also picked up the new Ryoga 1016 late last year too!

    Conquest 101HG.

Great reel that combines superb quality with a beautiful look. There might be cheaper reels out there that do a similar job as the Conquest, but it is just like a Rolex, beauty of art!

I have always admire those round reels. I have not picked one up for bass fishing, I just feel it might be little odd that I am not fishing yellow tails ...

I have a few that I use. a Conquest50, and a Calcutta 200GTB. The 200 is a tank, but a great reel to fish with.

I have a bunch of Abu 5500s that I used to use for saltwater but other than when I thought the Quantum Iron was a great reel I don’t use any round reels in freshwater for bass anymore.

I use my Calcutta conquest for cranking. It's a work of art.

I use several of the Sweden-made Abus. In my regular rotation are a Record 40, Record 50, 5600 CL Rocket, a pair of 5600C4 Mags and a 4600CI.
They all have dual BB levelwinds and dual BB cog wheels and have been tuned (by me). I have probably 20 other round Swedes that don't see regular use.

All I used for a long time was the Quantum Iron. Man that thing was a brute, I think there are some still out here but from Japan. IR300

I had always wanted to try a smaller one. A package deal came up with 3 Black Max 1600C reels so I jumped on it. Have only used one of them...and ashamed to say not lately. Not the tightest reel, but cast extremely well with lighter baits. Cast extremely well throwing into a pretty strong headwind. I also pick up a couple Morrums in that size. Nice reels. Wouldn't mind trying a smaller Calcutta.

I love round reels. I have many of them and enjoy using them regularly. Monoblocks to Calcuttas, there's something about a solid chunk of metal for moving bait applications in particular.

Stuck a 5500C on a rod the other day for an afternoon of pond fishing. Damn, it was noticeable heavier. You can get used to those 7 ounces reels and 4-5 ounce rods moreso than you think. Still, it performed perfectly all afternoon. I'll stick with my LP reels for every day use.
