Relion will now start offering a single case 24v (60ah) and 36v (30ah) lithium batteries, with more options to come. As usual no special charger will be needed.

Which Relion is recommended for cranking a 300 Outboard? 3x12 for 36v setup? What do you recommend? Thanks.
What’s the difference with the new Insight series vs the RB/RB-hp series or are they replacing that line?

Same Q as post 5. Emailed Relion direct and no reply.
Per engineering department in Calf, RB100 will shut down if a 200amp draw hits it. RB100HP is 1000amp shut down. That is why hp is used for cranking battery. If battery shuts down, goes into safe mode for lack of a better term, remove the load that caused the issue, remove the ground and should "wake up". If you completely discharge the battery and recharging will not just jump the battery with another 12 volt battery and charging will begin. Hope it helps and Merry Christmas

They missed the mark again.
Battleborn is around $500 for a 12v 50ah battery. I would need 3 so $1500 total.
A Relion 36v at 60ah would be right on power but needs to come down to $1100 and under 40lbs. But this means you only have 1 battery. If it goes, your TM is down.
I'm looking for Two Relion 36v at 30ah for around $1000 total. Gives me 60ah total and the TM can still run if one dies (though shorter duration).
The real problem is I'm not willing to shell out $2k+ for a TM battery. Bring it to $1,000 and it would be within reach.
How do you charge a 36v battery?
If I stack 3 of my 4 12v charger banks onto one battery thats 36v right????
These will be new batteries. Where the standard RB series will still be in productions. The new insight batteries will have have a new BMS that safeguards the battery more and will have a state of charge indicator. The main launch on the insight series is the single 24v and 36v batteries, that do not require a special charger.
So are these made in china?
So will the RB series including HP version continue to be made side by side or is the whole line going to be incorporated into the Insight series? Or will there be a refresh of the RB series to incorporate the new BMS with charge indicators? Thanks Hunter689

So, what size battery does the "average" fisherman with a 20 foot bass boat with a 36v Ultrex need?
John
No, you'll likely need to buy a 36v charger. I don't think you can bridge a 12v charger to work.
It depends. Conceptually, a BMS could be engineered to sense a 12v charge and break the series connection and a 12v volt charger could work. Never done it but I could see it as being possible.
Or perhaps even a secondary pair of terminals for charging. Dunno. Certainly possible I think.
