    Graphs before Pixels

How many remember using graphs that used paper. My second and third boats had them. One was a Eagle's Mach 1 if I recall correctly which were I believe made by Lowrance and one was a Lowrance. I remember putting notes on the paper on location and time frame for future reference. Not to mention the old flashers also.

Yep, Lowrance X15 in 1983 for my ‘82 Skeeter Wrangler knock-off (DelMagic Infinity). Good one.

I love the smell of a paper graph in the morning. I was talking with an old friend this morning about that. Sure to miss those.

I can remember the paper graphs but just barely. Did they go through a lot of paper and ink?

They don't have ink. An electrical spark burns the image on the paper.

I've got an X-15 and a Humminbird Super 60 in the basement. They still worked when I took them off the boat... Dan

I've got a Lowrance X-15B in the cabinet next to me, along with 6-8 rolls of paper and extra stylus . The target separation on those is 1.5" iirc - as good as modern units.

When I bought my 1990 Ranger 361V in 2005 it still had the Eagle Mach 1 on it and worked perfectly. Actually made great pics on that paper, would run it side by side with the LCX-15 MT that I put on a RAM mount to compare. Probably should have kept it when I had it removed for posterity sake.

I always wanted one of those paper graphs, back in the day, but of course, I couldn't afford one. Just like now, I'd love to have a couple of Helix 10's for my boat...but I can't afford them either.
