    Trailer bunks

I am getting ready to redo my bunks. I have measured them, but without pulling the carpet off I can’t tell if they are standard 2x6 or if they are contoured.

    Anybody know?

I used treated 2x6's from Home Depot and rounded the edges off with a 1/4" router bit.

I too would round the top edges. I also taper the leading edge lightly at the rear of the trailer. Gives you a better transition when you are power loading.

I am planning to put Gatorbaks on. Would you still round the edges?

Good question. Best to contact the Gatorbak guys directly. Seems to be a great product that is well supported.

On my 2007 the factory bunks were not rounded. IMHO not really worth it. Might do just the insides where the keel makes contact to center up. “Leading edge” tapering is pretty pointless to me as my boat never makes contact there ever anyway. My first contact is at least 1/3 way up the bunk but some of you guys may see much shallower cut ramps than where I launch.
