    PBS/American Experience Everglades airs tonight

PBS's American Experience show episode on the Everglades airs tonight. Looks to be history of efforts to drain/manage/etc and future options... American Experience usually has good shows so should be interesting.

Well not much response lol. It was a bit dry, unless you are a history geek, esp a Fl. history geek. Mostly early history of the Everglades, how we continually eff it up, coverage of the big floods in the 20's, and the formation of the National Park.

Was hoping for more on the drainage of Okeechobee and future plans, but pretty much ended at the formation of Everglades NP. Still, if you like history it's worth the watch. Root cause of all evil seems to go back to Fl. Gov. Broward as the big kickstarter for draining and reclamation (and later, Fred Elliott from the Board of Reclamation getting the blame for not managing Big O's water level resulting in thousands of deaths during the two floods in the 20's) - not Big Sugar. (Although Big Sugar definitely driving issues in more recent decades, for sure).

Hell we have a bridge named after Gov. Broward here in Jax, although no one calls it that (Dames Point). There's also a Broward County of course. And Elliot has a bldg. named for him in Tallahassee. Figures.
