    2019 zx250 speed issues

Had several of these in the past. Didn’t matter what I did before it was always 70-73. Now I can’t get above 67 to save my life. Could the new props they came out with be causing it. Help!

Rpms are way high. Highest I’ve ever had was 56-5800 now like 6200. As I how this that’s gotta be my problem. 25 pitch now, should switch to 26?

I am assuming you meant 67 not 77? I would say you would be correct to expect 70-73mph with a modest load(that's what my 2015 zx250 gets). I know that the newer prop (25 T-2) that replaced the (25 T-1) is known to be off and not as precise as the t-1 so you may need to send it to Mark Croxton for him to get it right. Other then that you could look for a T-1 or a Mercury Tempest with a little added cup is known to be a good substitute.

26p wont solve your problems. 25pT1 is the correct prop for that combo. You potentially have a lack of cup, or your blades are closer to a 24p. Again this is based on the fact that your RPM readings are correct.

Lower your jackplate 3 dots and see how much speed you pick up and how much rpms drop

The T2 is a little slower than the t1...mine was very close...I'm actually getting my rpms but my speed is around 71...where as my t1 ran the same rpms but was up around 74...

Not a expert but my zx225 was very similar always a 71-72 mph boat. I couldnt get it past 65 and was spinning super high rpms ended up being a bent prop shaft. I dont remember hitting anything and no damage to the prop but 2 VERY small nicks that I didn't have fixed, you could just barley see it when you spun the prop by hand. But it was the problem and now I am back running in the low 70s. Worth looking at in my opinion.

My 2017 ZX 250 came with a 25p T1 prop. After about 5 months the T1 prop busted and yamaha replaced with the T2. I have tried several props since the T1 busted and spent hundreds of dollars having props worked. I never found one to run as well as the T1 did. I finally gave up but with T2 or similar prop you should be within the 72-73mph range

Pick up a used Tempest and get it worked. Should get all your speed back.
