    12" under 5" windshield?

    Guys,

I'm looking for different mounting ideals for a 12" Garmin at the consoul of my 21SST. I'd love to keep at windshield but want to keep everything sleek and clean. Don't really want to side mount unless I have too.

    Thanks

If a 12” goes behind the windshield its either going to be high and in your way or low and in your way of the wheel.

You can make windshield wedges to raise the windshield. If you search some of my posts you will see the wedges we made, very simple.

Personally i would go with a 9" at the wheel and 12's at the front tho.

A 9" or maybe a 10" will fit behind a 8" windshield, not sure about anything bigger than that, my Gen 2 9" fits just fine

I have a 9 on mine with a UBP mount and works well. 12 would be iffy at best.

If you want too, you can cut the windshield around the unit, did that on my 2004 I had, it was a HDS10

I have a solix 12 on my 21xrd fits good it’s a tight fit but I can still see everything. It might be 1/2” above the windshield.

I took a 2" Ram mount and turned the mount forward where the gimbal bracket is mounted with the bottom facing the bow of the boat. It gave me room to mount a 12 in front of the windshield and still have room for your hands on the wheel. I looked at several of the dual mounts and the answer always was the same. Buy a tilt helm for your steering, which was more than I wanted to spend. I used a stabilizer rod similar to the bounce buster rods you see on a lot of trolling motors with a padded foot on the ends, and drilled through the gimbal and plate on the ram to install. It works for me, lets me run dual 12s at my console.

I don't know how to post em. My boat is in my shop for the winter, and it's beside table saws, and covered in sawdust right now. Looks rough, need to clean it up. I can take some and text or email to somebody that knows how to post.
