Foot Pedal to Hand Control Questions

Due to health reasons I am no longer able to stand and operate my foot pedal Motorguide Pro (Bass Pro Shop) trolling motor. I now have to sit down and I find the foot pedal control difficult to operate from a sitting position. Early on I replaced the junk trolling motor bracket with a Gator mount. My question is: can I convert to a hand control Motorguide (with a Pro Control) and still retain the Gator mount??

If you get "older" style (which would be used) Motorguide with the stainless steel shaft. That motor will have a sleeve on it that will fit into the gator mount. The newer Motorguides, X3/X5 have composite shafts and will not fit in the Gator mount.
