    Carpet Weight

guys, getting ready top re-carpet my Procraft 215 Combo F/S and was wondering what is the best weight to get when ordering my carpet? Don't want it so thick it's hard to open the compartment lids which pulls the carpet loose over time. What is a good quality and durable carpet?

Syntec carpet, 20oz would fit good and can do 24 oz but will require time to shave the carpet well openings.

I used 24 oz Syntec on mine, had to shave the livewell and 2 storage compartment lids in the rear deck. Not a big deal, can't tell it either, excellent carpet. Somewhat denser than the 20 oz. I don't believe the carpet really has that much taller nap, just denser.

Hair clippers you can buy at Walmart. The Wahl brand is more money but work well.
Keep the blades clean of fuzz and oiled. Works like a charm. Just be careful and work slowly.

This is correct. Higher ounce does not mean longer nap. It means more nap per square inch of carpet. Think of it as trees in an acre. More trees the same length per acre as the ounce gets higher. More coverage and ticker density.

Put 20 oz on it and use 1/4? padding under it, you'll love it. 24 won't feel near as good.

Wait, you put a pad under your carpet? Is this always done?

Not always, just personal preference.i put 1/4” padding on my front deck when I re-carpeted and wish I hadn’t.Most guys like it but I have some weakness in my left leg. Sometimes when I step back it feels like I’ve stepped off an edge and I stumble. I doubt most folks have that problem though.

How much carpet (yds) did it take for your Ranger? I'm looking at the country beige, not sure how it will look.

I like it. Buddy’s 2000 TR19 had tan and it was a lot lighter than this and showed too much dirt.
Ranger told me that’s why they went darker.
