the key had a beep but would not roll over everything was dead
turned the key off and back on the beep but no power
its in Neutral and the lanyard is plugged in properly battery is up
he said it ran fine the last time he was out in it in October. We tried everything.
Any one ever had a problem like this. 2003 Stratos with a 2003 Evinrude 200.

So from hundreds of miles away and on an internet forum you've diagnosed the issue as engine related due to a name??? Theres nothing wrong with these engines other than people spreading false information.

I'm on the battery side as well. However may be a blessing. Did the previous owner treat the gas? October until now is plenty of time for untreated ethanol gas to separate.

Yes he treated the gas as what he told me.
He just call and said he took a screwdriver to the starter and it started up.
so the problem could be the switch or between the switch and starter. Idk.

A Ficht thats 16 years old...if it was a problem motor issues would have surfaced by now.

You will have to chase the lack of voltage through the circuits or it could be something simple like a bad neutral switch or solenoid. The gauge itself sounds the warning horn for the initial beep so there is voltage up to the ignition switch and out the purple wire.

JMHO, low hours may not be a good thing on this Ficht. These were problem motors for OMC. There are plenty of good used rigs to be found, without a Ficht.

Very low hours on a 16 year old motor means a lot of time for residual gasoline in the fuel system to deteriorate, form varnish and deposits, and possibly corrode internal parts.

And likely there's a mechanical reason there is only 100 hours on the motor. It's sat broke down most it's life. That said, why do you say it's a Ficht? I do not believe they made Ficht motor in a 2003 model year. It may be a DFI, the predecessor to the Etec.

They were still considered "ficht" engines even tho it should be a DI motor. My 04 is that way.
