Lowrance user wanting to add panoptix

I am running a Lowrance HDS 9 up front now and I want to add the Garmin panoptix. No garmin experience.
what unit would you suggest if I really only want to use the new livescope function. I can use my HDS for anything else.
Given the 1500 price tag on the transducer, I do not need to spend extra dollars if not needed on the unit that will primarily be a monitor for the livescope.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

I’m sure most will recommend a 9” screen to start with. I think but not sure that the least expensive option is a plus unit. The 93sv looks to be the cheapest 9”
Drop to a 7” and save about 250.00 but you may not be happy with your view.

You are certainly right. I have not recommended any of the 7 inch screens for LiveScope, but if it was me and I could not afford the 9 inch system in the near future, then I would buy the 7 inch and while using it limit the range to still give a good picture. Yes, smaller view better than no view.

My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

Lowrance is about to release their LiveSight transducer. You might want to wait to see how it compares to LiveScope.

    No wait! Enjoy life!

Even lowrance would have a competitive one, price would NOT be.

If your current Lowrance Units are older than the Carbon series, they will not work with the new livescope feature.

9 inch is the smallest I would go but your eyes may be better than mine it’s the best money I have ever spent on fish finder.

I’d just hate to see the manufacturers give up on smaller units.

I think you are right. Once dealers are allowed to go off of MSRP requirements, I've not seen them later put back on it. Now a matter of inventory.

Go to BP, West Marine or whoever has a 7" and a 9" screen set up side by side.
Run the simulator and compare various screens, combos, maps, etc.
Now step back 2' and do the same.
You will be amazed at the difference 2" makes (yeah, yeah I know).
You owe this to yourself before deciding.

Two years ago, I went with a 7" screen (price, fit better where I installed it) - but, if I ever get a Plus unit for livescope, well, $250 will not be the deciding factor.
Do not take your half in the middle ....
