    Question Gill Netting on Wheeler

I was fishing the lower end of wheeler today up in second creek. Seen a couple guys fishing gill nets. I thought gill nets were illegal for use on the Tenn River. I remember a bill that was voted on a couple years ago but seems like it was voted down. Anyone of you guys know if they are legal? Tried calling Alabama Dept. of Natural resources but couldn't get a answer.

Thanks, I was thinking that was the case. Still haven’t heard from DCNR.

I saw them in the no-wake zone at Joe Wheeler Marina a couple of times last month. I thought it was still illegal.

They were pulling their nets in the middle of the lane where all the boats idle through...

I will be on Wheeler sat, I damn sure hope I do not see them. I will cut their nets up while my partner calls the law!
I also pack while on the water.
