Don’t you have to have the new 8 series?

HOPEFULLY they will make this compatible with EC+ units.....heck most everything they developed to this point is compatible with the EC+.....holding off on buying the original LS, time is on my side right now....

After seeing the video in link you posted i understand the concept now......

If you already have an LVS32 I wouldn't think you would want one of these. And if it was to be compatible with the EC+ units you'd still have to have a black box to run it. Might as well get the big boy.

Correct the black box is built into the 8 and it’s only down and forward not rear facing

Does this provide same quality as the Livescope transducer with the blackbox? Why wouldn't someone go with this transducer w/o the need to find space for an external black box?

Looks like forward and down only it’s nice seeing front to back on the scope. But having to buy that high dollar unit is going to hurt

Looks like maybe marketed towards bigger boats as a transom mount? Says it does forward and down with no manual adjustment.

Looking at it, its the same thing just a smaller cone angle......don't cover as much "territory" .....i guess if you dont want the box and have a compatible unit why not.....

It’s a cheaper/simpler version. Good to replace traditional sonata, but can’t replace LiveScope LVS32.

Leonard - it says single array for LVS12 as compared with 3 array for LVS32. Wonder if the resolution is not as good on the simpler unit.

The resolution is as good, just less coverage. This multi-beam phased array stuff is over my head. Tough for me to get a hold on how they do the Forward and Down at the same time without rotating the xd and one array.

Ok..I was hoping this would make decision easier.......looks like more options which can be good

lvs12 - looks like wider beam (30 degrees) vs lvs32 (20) which would appear good for searchability left to right

lvs12 - but only 30 degrees front to back compared to lvs32 (130)

needs a black box (tbd which one?? Or is model and cost known?)

does work with echo+ but needs box just like lvs32 which comes packaged already

to me this feels like the ps21 vs ps31 original positioning with an added box or higher end unit for the extra resolution.

overall the positioning makes sense and is probably to match positioning price point of Lowrance version (upcoming ) which is for their higher end units

maybe someone can do the math for Echo+ users when compared with the Garmin comparable size screeen 8 series

I've had it for awhile. If I hadn't had the LVS32 for a year now I would be really excited about it. It has is applications. Still 20* of view side to side. The 30* vertical or front to back works great for LiveScope down. The resolution is great. I've been running the LVS32 on my 1042 and the LVS12 (down) on my 8610. It's a pretty good combination that covers a lot of water.
