    DIY Rod Sox

Plan to give making these a shot, it's just not very difficult. I have some trc ones but the rod tips get hung up etc. Saw a good idea someone puts a nerf dart in the end.

Where is the best place to buy expandable PET?

Seems 1" for casting and 1.5" for spinning . Any other reccomendations?

The search feature on the forum doesn't like 3 letter words or I expect I would have found something.

I’ve seen a few videos on YouTube showing how to make them. I was going to make my own until my daughter bought me 7 on amazon for a really good price. I like these because they have a small elastic chord on them that connects the sock to the handle on my reel. Holds them on very well. Good Luck!

They are simple to make given they are heat sensitive, really looking to see if anyone found a good place to buy 50-100ft

So you are almost better off buying them at those prices but they do have some other interesting products.

I measured my store bought ones and they are 3/4". If you don't care about fancy colors, you can make your own for about $1.10 a piece, as long as you have a heat gun (another $15 at Harbor Freight).

I don't even use a heat gun. I just heat up my scissors or knife with the torch before cutting.....
I actually had more trouble finding big enough shrink tubing than I did the expandable sleeving.

I've made my own but then found them for just over a dollar each on aliexpress.com a while back.

I've done my own plenty of times.....very easy and like other dont have the "hot" knife but just used the lighter to and heat shrink for the ends and haven had any issues....

One thing i have found buying the sleeving: First two times i bought the 1" sleeving from Cables Ties and More (same link above this post), fish both my regular and spinning rods......last two times i bought one 100' roll from Ebay and 100' roll from Amazon......both were 1" in size and both were to small for my regular rods....i ended up returning both and getting my money back.....

My point is, i went the cheaper route and it didnt work out......seems the tolerance was not the same, but not sure where CTM gets theirs compared to whats on Ebay/Amazon.....Just something to think about......

That's good info, I noticed some listed it as ultra expandable.

I plan to order some this weekend, work has been busy and I keep getting distracted, plus season doesn't open until first week of May.
