    Tr 20 Prop

Can anyone tell me what prop they run in the summer heat on Triton Tr 20. I am running a 25 Tempest until it heats up,then hole shot struggles. Thanks

    I ran a Tempest 25 on my TR 21 although I had a 225 Optimax on it.

Are you saying that after your motor warms up your holeshot gets worse??

No as the weather warms up it is slower out of the hole, common problem from what I have read. I am researching a summer prop, thinking about a 23 or 24 tempest.

ohh ok I gotcha. Are you running with any plugs in the prop? You might be able to add some plugs and keep from downsizing your prop.

All my plugs are out currently, I thought that helped hole shot?

Adding some plugs with help with hole shot but will dampen your top end just a little bit.

I have been looking into spacers, thinking about buying the 2in to see if that gets me more tuck and better holeshot when loaded

If you've got a 2.5 EFI, hole shot will be poor. Just the way it is.

Get a 24" tempest for summer time. Without having the motor worked by someone like Jay Smith racing the 2.5 is a hole shot turd.

I did the spacer thing. Waste of money. Saw no improvement in hole shot or top end. I to have a 6" plate.

I have your same set up and I run a 25P tempest plus in the winter and a 23P tempest plus in the summer. Both are worked by the same guy for consistency. The 23 will turn a little high on the RPM if you put it on too early or run light. I just watch it when I have it on and by myself.

Had a 2.5 200 on my TR20 spinning a 25p Tempest +... the 2.5 is a bit lazy out of the hole, but screams on top. It’s the “small block” of the 200’s. Now a 3.0L 200 will build more torque out the gate. It is what it is with a 2.5. Might try getting your prop B&B with a bit of cup...
