    Lower unit problems on 2003 v max 200 ox66

    I have had 2 lower units go bad on this engine. Is there anything in the power head that could be causing this? I'm talking about where the drive shaft goes into the motor. As far as I could tell, I didn't hit anything either time. I would really appreciate your input.

    What went bad? Shaft broke, gears burned up, shaft bent, ???

    It started squealing bad then a knocking sound. I shut it down as fast as I could. I didn't tear it down. It's at the shop now.

    What lower units? The second one was not a SEI was it? Cj
