Crack in Transom Stringer Support - Opinions

Doing my winter maintenance on the boat (A 2008 and I'm the original owner) and found this...See pics... A crack in Transom Stringer/Support. From what I can tell, without actually getting in there and pulling things apart, is that it might be cosmetic. In other words just the outer layer, but maybe its worse. Your advice and opinions are welcome. Thanks.

I'd get it to a trusted Fiberglass shop just to be sure. IF it does end up being cosmetic, you want to ge it re-glassed over so it does'nt end up getting moisture in there and start to rot.

There is no WOOD in a Triton, so there is nothing to "rot".

That's true but even synthetic materials break down and become weaker when they're waterlogged.

I would get in touch with the factory and send them the pictures. I don't think it is anything to worry about but I would get it repaired. Should be an easy fix.

Thanks guys. Contacted my dealer and sent him the pics. Waiting for him to get word from Triton on what to do.

Just to the inside of it... towards the center/keel of the boat. On the left side of the photo's you can see the corner of the battery and slightly above that, you can see a rusty screw (Gotta change that) holding one corner of the onboard charger down.

That looks structural ! It is/was definitely moving ! You can tell by the black finish not being around the cracks any more ! I wonder if your transom is moving, under load ?

Looks like the glass covering the foam has broken not a stringer. Fiber glass cloth and a quart of resin should fix it.

Looks that way to me. This is a couple of months old. What was the diagnosis.
