I don't have any experience with 4 stroke motors and was wondering which motor would you recommend and why, Mercury 250 DTS or Honda BF 250 AXA? The only motors offered on this boat are Mercury or Honda.

Whichever motor has the best standard warranty and won't leave you stranded.
2018 Bass Cat Lynx w/Suzuki 250SS.
Whatever motor is fastest.
Don’t worry the warranty, or about being stranded, there’s always someone around that will give you a tow if you need it.
It’s 2019! There is no better motor anymore, just what looks pretty now.
4 Stroke though is now big deal seems like to me
they're ALL good!
Oddly they both seem to weigh approximately the same at 620-635 pounds, I thought the Honda was heavier. The Mercury will be faster by a few mph but I’ve rarely seen someone complain about a Honda outboard, they’re reliable! Is there a big price difference? Is there a big difference in the warranty? Is there a certified mechanic for both nearby?
I’d pick the Mercury personally.

Of course I lean to Mercury always, these new Mercury motors are very good.

The Mercury is a grand more expensive.
I kind of agree with this. Especially if you’re going to keep the boat for a long time I’d go with the Honda probably though I’ve owned two trouble free Mercurys. But if you’re going to trade or sell in a few years it would probably be easier to sell the Mercury if it’s on a bass boat. If this is a pontoon or multi species boat I’d go with the Honda for sure

Treat others like you want to be treated when on the water EVEN WHEN IN A TOURNAMENT! No fish is worth having a confrontation because you cut someone off or came in on top of someone.
If you travel with your boat, consider which you could get parts and service on if you break down on a trip.
Given those 2 choices I would go Honda all the way. They have a proven track record as being bullet proof and around here (Lake Erie) Honda dealers/mechanics are relatively easy to find if you ever need one.

Though I have no experience with that particular boat, I don’t believe that it’s a high performance hull. I believe the hull is the same as the Pro V walleye boat. I’d go with the Honda here
On the Lund, Honda for sure. Between the boat and the engine, you will get tired of them before you ever wear them out.
That would be a tremendous combination!
Other than picking a 4 stroke ... they all are great quality anymore ... so go with what you like looks of the best ...
I would go, and have since 2004, with a Honda!!
I'd go with the better warranty. I added to my Merc warranty and was a little peeved at the cost. My sense is that other brands offer better terms on new motors.

Having owned only mercury motors I would go Honda and not look back!
