I'm surprised we don't see the 'wrist draped over the steering wheel' "posers", on the water.

I have one on my Champ 181 and only use it around the docks in the no wake zones. Helps out quite a bit when navigating around boats and in tight spots.

Been doing it for forty years without a problem. I am more concerned about anyone who needs two hands to drive a boat or a car.

You use two hands on the wheel not for when you don't need them but for when you do. Those conditions should be obvious.

The great thing about the old suicide knobs was some of them had a photo of a naked woman in them. My buddy's dad had one on his '55 Chevy. When I was a kid I really enjoyed sitting in that car

That’s affirmative. Hard to dock a pontoon without one. Wouldn’t want one on a bass boat.

My Ranger came with one stock. Even has a Ranger logo on it.

    Boat tops out around 70mph.

I use it at the docks and such but also when running in the winding creeks. No way i could turn the wheel that fast.

It allows me to slip the boat sideways and slide into the tight bend then power out of it. All nice and smooth in one motion. Fun too.

Edit: This is in a center console flats boat so no hot foot. One hand on the throttle, one on the suicide knob.

There's one like that somewhere in my garage. My ex-husband left it. Funny thing is he did not know how to drive. No depth perception.

If you need two hands to drive a boat with hydraulic steering, you are probably a little too limp-wristed for me to be in your boat.
