Do a guide trip on Clearlake or the Delta....You might find a few Florida transplants (like me...)

Lake Del valle is just out of town. largemouth, smallmouth , stripers .Winter they stock it pretty heavy with trout.
Haven't really fished in/around that area, but i'd say take a look at google maps for the nearest Delta arms to where you'll be staying. Hearing nothing but great things related to Striper lately. Bass, at least for the lakes near me have been slow/steady if you put in the time and find them deep.

I lived on the Delta for 13 years and have lived at Clearlake for 11 years.My Pb largemouth , trout and striper are all out of Del Valle
